Transportation
Student Transportation
Students arriving at school in a timely manner and coming home safely is our top priority.
The Merchantville School District is responsible to provide student transportation to and from Haddon Heights High School, as well as certain other out-of-district placements. The district utilizes the Camden County Educational Service Commission (CCESC) who directly contracts with various busing companies that can meet our student transportation needs. .
We provide the CCESC with the number of students needing transportation and the drop off time we require them to arrive at the schools. The CCESC handles the bidding procedure, the mailing of bus passes and any needed communication with the bus companies.
For Haddon Heights High School, the contract states that the bus should drop off students in the morning between 7:45 and 7:50 AM - so that students have sufficient time to get to their Homerooms or 1st period assignments.
In the afternoon, at the end of the school day, students are picked up and returned to their pick up location in Merchantville.
Bus Passes
To assure student safety, a bus driver must be able to verify that all riders belong on the bus. Therefore, students are required to have and be able to show the bus pass generated by CCESC.
Prior to the start of the school year, the CCESC mails a bus pass to the home address of each student being transported to Haddon Heights High School. The bus pass identifies the morning pick up location, the approximate time the bus should arrive by, and how long before the scheduled pick up time the students should be at the pick up location.
Please contact the CCESC if a bus pass is lost or a replacement is needed.

Late Bus and “Zero Period”
So that students can take advantage of after school activities, Merchantville School District provides for a 4:00 PM late bus from Haddon Heights to Merchantville on Mondays – Thursdays. Haddon Heights High School is able to provide limited supervision for our riders of this bus until 4:00PM.
Late bus service generally commences approximately 2 weeks after the start of the school year
No transportation is currently provided for “zero” period.
While this may not fit everyone's after school needs, we have worked with Haddon Heights to determine the best time for the majority of our students.
Please have students be aware that when Haddon Heights High School makes announcements about “the late bus”, this refers to the Merchantville late bus.
Late Openings and Early Dismissal Transportation
Variations from the usual Haddon Heights High School starting and / or ending time may be either planned and communicated in advance or unplanned, in the case of inclement weather or for other safety or operational reasons. Bussing schedules on these days will be altered to accommodate the revised starting or end of school time.
